La galleria nasce nel Maggio 1980 con un intento più che coraggioso: esporre l'inedito, il nuovo, il reale e possibile paradigma artistico che è espressione del nostro tempo. Perché l'arte contemporanea è oggi formalmente "comunicazione tra i popoli, le loro realtà, i loro "segni" e i loro desideri". Una vera e propria battaglia in una Firenze dominata dai "Macchiaioli" e dove il nuovo rischiava non solo di non avere successo, ma anche di comportare serie perdite economiche e di mercato
The Gallery was founded in May 1980 on the basis of an extremely daring idea: to exhibit only new art works of unknown artists, in other words, the various artistic styles which are the true expression of our times. Actually contemporary art today is a formal. communication between nations, the way they live, their identity and their desires. This was not an easy job to accomplish in Florence, still artistically dominated by the Italian Impressionist painting School by the name of “Macchiaioli”, where introducing anything new could mean, apart from the real risk of failure, serious economic and business losses.

Ma il direttore Walter Bellini, animato dal desiderio di porre le basi, proprio a Firenze, antica culla delle arti, di un rapporto conseguente e creativo tra presente e passato, si schiera per il presente dell'arte fiorentina, italiana e internazionale, andando controcorrente e prefiggendosi un obiettivo più che preciso: esporre non solo artisti contemporanei ma fondamentalmente artisti contemporanei viventi.
This however did not deter the Gallery's director Walter Bellini, who, spurred on by the desire to lay the foundations of a consistent and creative relationship between the past and present in Florence ( universally known as the cradle of arts ), decided to opt for the present in florentine art. By doing so, he not only went up stream but also clearly kept to his main objective, which was that of concentrate on living contemporary artists only.

Innumerevoli gli artisti che si susseguono e citarne alcuni sarebbe far torto a molti altri, anche perché il panorama abbraccia non solo artisti di attuale successo, fiorentini italiani europei e statunitensi, ma anche perché Walter Bellini, già in un'epoca in cui non si parlava di interattività, non solo credeva ad un'arte multimediale (alternando nella sua galleria pittura, scultura, ceramica e altre arti) ma si poneva il problema di rendere multiculturale l'opera d'arte, affermando già nei primi anni ottanta: l'opera d'arte non ha confini.
Countless artists have exhibited at Ken’s Art Gallery and to mention only a few of them would be unfair to many others; also because such a panorama is not limited to successful contemporary Italian, European and American artists but also because Walter Bellini believed in multimedial art long before anyone else even thought about interactivity (alternating exhibitions of painting, sculpture, ceramics and other arts in his Gallery), as well as in bringing up the question of how to make art works multicultural; in fact in the early eighties he was already saying that “a work of art has no limits”.
